Closure comes from accepting what the situationship actually was, what it did not become, and that the current relationship is over—even if you never receive a perfect explanation.
Undefined relationships often leave unanswered questions because there was no shared story about the relationship in the first place. You may want the other person to explain what it meant, why they did not choose more, or whether it could have worked. Those answers can help, but closure becomes more durable when it does not depend on access to another person's private reasoning.
You may be seeking certainty about the past when what you need is finality in the present.
